    SHRM's Core Leadership Areas

    There are seven areas SHRM has determined critical – or core – to the success of achieving its mission to Advance the Profession and Serve the Professional:

    • College Relations,
    • Diversity,
    • Government Affairs,
    • HR Certification Institute Certification,
    • Membership,
    • SHRM Foundation and
    • Workforce Readiness.

    SHRM strongly encourages the inclusion of volunteer leadership roles on the chapter boards and state councils for each of these Core Leadership Areas (CLAs).  Tools to assist you in your volunteer leadership role can be found in the SHRM Volunteer Leaders Resource Center.
